2nd Quarter WPS Image Competition ResultsCake Cutting

This is a fun photo of the bride about to feed the groom cake. I am sure that this moment happened quickly. Excellent shot and I think he wants some cake.
Really great and funny moment captured - nice job staying with the photo and grabbing a fleeting moment.

2ND | Image # # 31 | Megan Kime
Such a cute moment of the bride licking the icing of his nose.
I love how what seems to be an otherwise serene moment is juxtaposed with a nose mush and lick to clean the icing off.

3RD | Image # 11 | Michelle Gunton
Wow, they really got into smashing the cake. His face is covered with icing and I can feel it going up her nose from this photo.
WE all see cake smashes but this one is done with abandon. The streaks on the grooms face and the double handed stuff make this a great capture.

4TH | Image # 84 | Jason Dail
Seeing the cake for the first time can be very exciting which the photographer captured that for her.
I love how the photographer was in the right place at the right time

5TH | Image # 36 | Jonathan Young
The sparkler cake has the groom's eyes wide open. It really looks like he does not know what to do with the cake.

All I can say is wow. This image stood out of the crowd quickly for me and I wish I had this in my book. This image has everything starting with a great moment, wonderful warm yellow tones, framing the subject, great light, repetition and pattern...what more could you ask for?
Beautiful use of space and capturing a seemingly whimsical moment. The "cross" back up in the trees is an "oooooh" kind of recognition (intentional or otherwise). Nice and simple.

2ND | Image # 93 | Andrew Bryant
I really enjoy the way the photographer toned and blurred his or her way with this image. The eye floats around the blurred area and comes back to the couple beautifully. Well done!
A gentleman helping his lady looks old school thanks to some creative post work and looks to step somewhere from out of the past.

3RD | Image # 12 | Jim Colman
So beautiful and simple love the black and white, perfection!
Nice moment. A little better post work on the surroundings and this would have been higher in my voting.

4TH | Image # 80 | Jason Dail
I love the light in this elaborate portrait session. A lot of work went into creating this image from beginning to end.
That looks like an ad and completely staged is a FANTASTIC way!
Nice portrait of the couple, making use of the surroundings and light.

5TH | Image # 74 | Michael Moss
"Sweet" does this image justice. If that light is real, then it rocks. The kiss adds to the magic.
That simple moment is captured in the simplest way and that is what makes this such a great photo!

The more I look at this, the more I laugh. She looks like a SNL character who was allowed to participate in the wedding. The ballerina jump is wonderful.
Great job of keeping your eye in the camera and capturing a truly hilarious moment.
I love the action captured in this shot

OMG this is hillarious. There are a lot of funny photos in this category but this one is really, really funny. Great catch by the photographer.
This would certainly the last thing I expected to see when I saw the photo. Excellent capture as i'm sure she didnt sit around long for that photo.

Getting ready is chaotic and this image captures the essence of that and more. It's a last minute scramble to get the dresses ironed and ready for the ceremony. Fun moment!
Great use of an otherwise inanimate object to bring some humor to the day. You can really see his personality by how much he gets into it.
Great use of what is around to create a memorable funny image by the photographer. This image gives you a glimpse into how funny the groom can be.

What a nice moment of grandpa helping wipe away the tears. You can see how close they are with one another in this photo. I really enjoy the photographers option to show this moment in B&W.
Stands out head and shoulders above the rest. A near perfect moment between generations.

2ND | Image # 119 | Nathan Clendenin
Love the lens flare coupled with the peak moment of the first dance. The flare frames the subjects beautifully.
Great framing and use of the sun. The faces on the couple really cements the image. With their faces, it's just a lens flare...

3RD | Image # 70 | William McEwen
Nice moment just after the ceremony. The photographer documented the bride & groom's first married moments perfectly.
This photo is so real capturing a soft moment between the couple.

4TH | Image # 7 | Michelle Gunton
This image really captures the setting of the ceremony, you feel like you were there.

5TH | Image # 69 | Mark Sobhani
Interesting and different that photo but it grabbed my attention. This image is simple and makes me look at it twice to understand what is going on. You don't see this too often. The body language and images on the wall makes this quirky photo a winner.
Details

Nice eyes on that shooter to see what's right in front of him/her. The shadows aping the action is a nice twist on the toast cliche.
Repetition of the shadow and the detail of it is interesting to look at. Different pays off.
Love the color and lighting in this photo it really makes a statement!

2ND | Image # 24 | Elizabeth van der Bij
Clean. Of all the ring pix, this one stands way out from the rest.
Love the colors in the ring shoot. We have blues, greens, yellow and gray. This is a clean image.

3RD | Image # 48 | Carrie Richardson
Everyone shoots the dress, but this one redefines the look. The subtle wallpaper colors to the lines framing the dress, a wonderfully understated image.

4TH | Image # 96 | Andrew Bryant
Details seen on a greater scale. Too many times we think of a detail shot being a single item. This frame shows overall details in all its glory.
Very pretty detail image of the reception area. Brides often don't get a chance to see the room but the photographer did a great job for her.

5TH | Image # 68 | Mark Sobhani
A different look at details. There is a lot of information where the details tell the story. Well done.
